Ziguinchor is a region of Senegal (regional capitals have the same name as their respective regions). Senegal (le Sénégal officially the Republic of Senegal, is a country south of the Sénégal River in western Africa. The region is also referred to historically and popularly as Basse Casamance. Casamance ( Casamança) is the area of Senegal south of The Gambia including the Casamance River.
