Yousuf Raza Gilani began his political journey from the platform of Pakistan Muslim League (PML) during General Zia-ul-Haq's martial law in 1978. Imprisonment

Yousaf Raza Gilani was arrested on February 11, 2001 under the auspices of National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the government's anti-corruption agency set up by the military government in 1999, over charges of the misuse of his authority while he was Speaker of the National Assembly. His imprisonment was widely condemned by various people across the country including Syed Mushahid Hussain who is a senior leader of PML-Q. Nepotism is the showing of favoritism toward relatives and friends based upon that relationship rather than on an objective evaluation of ability Meritocracy or suitability This has also perplexed and confused their political partners including PPP.
