Xeronemataceae is family of flowering plants in the Asparagales order. The flowering plants or angiosperms ( Angiospermae or Magnoliophyta) are the most widespread group The name was published in 2000 and has therefore been recognized only in recent taxonomies. [1] The APG II system, of 2003 does recognize this family and places it in the order Asparagales, in the clade monocots. Asparagales is an order of Flowering plants The order must include the family Asparagaceae, but other families included in the order have varied markedly Monocotyledons or monocots are one of two major groups of Flowering plants (angiosperms that are traditionally recognised the other being Dicotyledons The single genus in the family, Xeronema, with two species, has been variously placed in the family Asphodelaceae or the family Hemerocallidaceae in other taxonomic systems. Xeronema is a Genus of Flowering plants containing two species The Poor Knights lily ( Xeronema callistemon) is endemic to the Asphodelaceae is the Botanical name of a family of Flowering plants. Hemerocallidaceae is the Botanical name of a family of Flowering plants. Plant taxonomy is the science that finds describes classifies identifies and names Plants It thus is one of the main branches of taxonomy.

One species, Xeronema callistemon, is native to two islands off of the north coast of the North Island of New Zealand and the other, Xeronema moorei, is native to New Caledonia. The North Island is one of the two main islands of New Zealand, the other being the South Island. New Zealand is an Island country in the south-western Pacific Ocean comprising two main landmasses (the North Island and the South Island For the former North American fur-trading district see New Caledonia (Canada, and for the Scottish colony in Panama see Darien scheme. The plants are herbaceous monocots, spreading by rhizomes, and have large flowers set on terminal spikes, with stamens towering above the flowers. In Botany, a rhizome is a horizontal stem of a Plant that is usually found underground often sending out Roots and Shoots
