It was named after Erick Worsley, a British Cavalry Officer and fur trader who arrived in the area in the 1930's. The fur trade is a worldwide industry dealing in the acquisition and sale of animal Fur. The main families of the area are the Allens and the Schwerdts,the latter of which settled in the area before the 1900's and continue to live there today.
