Wired for Books is an online educational project of the WOUB Center for Public Media at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. Ohio University is a public university located in Athens Ohio that is situated on a 1800 acre (7 Athens is a historic College town in the southeastern part of the U The website features author interviews, dramatic audio productions of classic literature, readings of poetry, short stories, lectures, essays, and children's literature.

Nearly 700 uncut audio author interviews conducted by Don Swaim for his "Book Beat" show on CBS Radio are available at Wired for Books in their entirety. Don Swaim (born 1936 is an American journalist and broadcaster. This article is about the radio group for the radio network see CBS Radio Network. Original unabridged audio productions of The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland, A Christmas Carol, and The Tragedy of Macbeth can be found at Wired for Books in streaming media. Poets, essayists, and fiction writers read their works, often with commentary. Kids' Corner, the children's section of Wired for Books, features the stories of Beatrix Potter and other classic stories for children.

The website was awarded the 1999 Streamers WebSage Award from Real Networks for the best educational use of streaming media. [1] Education World gives Wired for Books an A+. [2]

Wired for Books was chosen in 2006 by the National Endowment for the Humanities as one of the best online sites for education in the humanities. The National Endowment for the Humanities ( NEH) is an independent federal agency of the United States established by the National Foundation on the Arts and the Humanities [3] The 2006 Program of the Year Award was presented to Wired for Books by eTech Ohio as part of the Ohio Public Broadcasting Awards for Radio. Wired for Books was featured in PC Magazine's colum, "Best of the Internet" in the November 20, 2007 issue. [4]
