Shatner was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, the son of Anna (née Garmaise) and Joseph Shatner, who was a clothing manufacturer. In the summer of 2004, rumors circulated that the producers of Star Trek: Enterprise were considering bringing William Shatner back into the Trek fold. Shatner has not been "offered or suggested" a role in the new film Star Trek, as of October 2007.
