Life and Career
Dr. William Sharpey was a correspondent with and friend of Charles Darwin. Charles Robert Darwin (February 12 1809 &ndash April 19 1882 was an English naturalist, who realised and demonstrated that all Species of life He contributed to the many editions of ‘Quain’s Anatomy’ and was one of the Secretaries of the Royal Society. The Royal Society of London for the Improvement of Natural Knowledge, known simply as The Royal Society, is a Learned society for science that was founded in 1660 He was also on the Commission on Scientific Instruction and the Advancement of Science, was a member of the Senate of the University of London and was also a Fellow of the Geological Society. The University of London is a university based primarily in London, England, UK. The Geological Society of London is a Learned society based in the United Kingdom with the aim of "investigating the mineral structure of the Earth" In 1874 Dr. Sharpey received a Civil Service Pension from the Government.
