Warrungu (or Warrangu, Warrango) is an Australian Aboriginal language, one of the dozen languages of the Maric branch of the Pama-Nyungan family. The Pama-Nyungan languages are the most widespread family of Indigenous Australian languages. It was formerly spoken in the area around Townsville, Queensland, Australia. Townsville is a city on the north-eastern coast of Australia, in the state of Queensland. Its last native speaker was Alf Palmer, who died in 1981.
