History

The district dates back to the Oberamt Waldshut, which was created when the area became part of the state of Baden in the beginning of the 19th century. Baden is a historical state in the southwest of Germany, on the right bank of the Rhine. The 19th century of the Common Era began on January 1, 1801 and ended on December 31, 1900, according to the Gregorian calendar After some changes it was converted to a district in 1938.
