Wajid is a town and district in the Bakool region of Somalia. Bakool (Bakool is a region ( gobolka) in central Somalia. Its capital is Xuddur. Somalia ( Soomaaliya; الصومال) officially the Somali Republic ( Jamhuuriyadda Soomaaliya, جمهورية الصومال) and formerly known Wajid town is located approximately 302 kilometres (188 miles) north west of the national capital, Mogadishu, 78 kilometres (49 miles) south west of the district capital, Xuddur, and 69 kilometres (43 miles) south east of the Somalia-Ethiopia border. In 2004, the population of the district was estimated at 36,995. [1] Wajid district is a rural area with a semi-arid to arid climate. In general terms the Climate of a local or region is said to be arid when it is characterized by a severe lack of available Water, to the extent of hindering Many of the district's inhabitants derive their livelihood from pastoral activities, such as raising livestock, and agriculture, such as growing sorghum. Nomadic people, (from the νομάδες nomádes, "those who let pasture herds" also known as nomads, are communities of people that Livestock is the term used to refer (singularly or plurally to a Domesticated Animal intentionally reared in an agricultural setting to produce such as Food Agriculture refers to the production of goods through the growing of plants and fungi and the raising of domesticated Animals The study of agriculture Sorghum is a genus of numerous species of grasses, some of which are raised for grain and many of which are used as Fodder plants either cultivated or as part [2]

In July 2006, Wajid was occupied by Ethiopian forces during the Ethiopian military intervention in Somalia.
