The grand opening was delayed somewhat due to Hurricanes Frances and Jean [4] The Avenue contains shops and restaurants, a 16-screen Rave movie complex[5], and several "Big-Box" retailers including Bed, Bath and Beyond, Office Depot and The Sports Authority. The park opened in 2006; the community center in 2007.
A new overpass crossing I-95 in central Viera opened in November 2007, joining Viera East and Viera West via an extension of Viera Boulevard. This has significantly reduced travel time to the government offices, stadium complex, The Avenue retail shops and restaurant area, and new residential development in Viera West. [11]
