Kay, known for his long hair,mentioning Bolton in almost every sentence, style and large size (he is 6' 4" tall with notably outsize hands), made his first step in to the world of showbiz when he was spotted by Select model scouts for the Clothes Show Live. His stylish ways led to him being awarded 2005's Most Stylish Man award by men's magazine FHM. FHM or For Him Magazine is an international monthly Men's Lifestyle magazine. Kay has recently had his hair cut short.

Vernon Kay was a member of The Snowdon Drivers brake dance crew. Named after the street he lived on. Having regular Mash's with the Cotswold crew. Other members included Eddie backspin , Webster the Animal , Super Fly Si and Windmill Andy Cornes and other Horwich Legends.
