Valle Nevado, Ski resort is located 46 kilometers west of Santiago, capital of Chile. With more than 9. 000 hectares of skiable area, it is by far the most extensive, and is considered one of the most modern Ski Centers in Latin America. During last years, trails have been extended and a new snow park and halfpipe was created for different kinds of freestyle skiing and snowboarding. Snowboarding is a sport that involves descending a Snow -covered slope on a Snowboard attached to a participant's feet using a special boot set into a mounted binding Also, heliskiing can be practised here. Heliskiing is off-trail downhill skiing that is accessed by a Helicopter, not a Ski lift. Valle Nevado was the host of the Snowboard World Championship in 2005.
