Professor V. K. R. V. Rao, (Vijendra Kasturi Ranga Varadaraja Rao), (1908-1991) was an Indian economist, politician and educator. He is credited with founding the Delhi School of Economics and the Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi and the Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bangalore. Delhi School of Economics, started in 1949, is a conglomerate of three departments under the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Delhi. The Institute for Social and Economic Change ( ISEC) is a social science research institute in Bangalore, India. He is also commemorated by the VKRV Rao prizes in Social Science Research. [1]
