Uesugi Kagetora (上杉景虎?) (1552 - 1579) was the seventh son of Hōjō Ujiyasu; he was adopted by Uesugi Kenshin, and was meant to be Kenshin's heir. was the son of Hōjō Ujitsuna (北条 氏綱 and a daimyō (warlord of the Odawara Hōjō clan. was a Daimyo who ruled Echigo province in the Sengoku Period of Japan. However, in 1578, he was attacked in his castle at Ōtate by Uesugi Kagekatsu--Kagetora's respective brother-in-law--and was subsequently defeated. The 1578 siege of Ōtate took place following the sudden death of Uesugi Kenshin, one of Japan 's greatest warlords Uesugi Kagekatsu (上杉 景勝 January 8 1556 - March 19 1623) was a Daimyo during the Sengoku and Edo periods Kagetora committed suicide the following year.
