Tyrrellspass has an excellent senior football team and are considered one of the best clubs in Ireland. The GAA team won the Westmeath Senior Championship in 2006 and defended their title in 2007. In the 2007-2008 Leinster Championship they progressed as far as the final, where they were beaten by the eventual champions St. Vincents of Dublin.
