Tyler Maynard was born in New Carlisle, Ohio. New Carlisle is a city in Clark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 5735 at the 2000 census. As part of the Great Lakes region, Ohio has long been a cultural and geographical crossroads He originally wanted to become a marine biologist but abandoned that goal due to a fear of sharks. He was part of his school choir, and by the sixth grade he landed his first professional acting role at the La Comedia Dinner Theatre. La Comedia Dinner Theatre is located in Springboro Ohio. La Comedia is one of the nation's largest professional dinner theaters with Broadway -style productions From 1993 to 1997 while in high school, Maynard joined the Muse Machine where he starred in Peter Pan, The Music Man, Oliver and Me and My Girl.
When he was 18, Maynard was accepted at the College Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati where, among other productions, he starred as Otto Kringelein in Grand Hotel.
