Trommald was founded as a mining town on the western end of the Cuyuna Range, just north of Ironton. The Cuyuna Range is an iron range to the southwest of the Mesabi Range, largely within Crow Wing County Minnesota. Ironton is a city in Crow Wing County, Minnesota, United States.
