Johann D. Titius |
Titius a lunar crater that is located on the Moon's far side, beyond the eastern limb. Selenographic coordinates are used to refer to locations on the surface of Earth 's Moon. Johann Daniel Titius ( January 2 1729 &ndash December 11 1796) was a German Astronomer and a professor at Wittenberg In the broadest sense the term impact crater can be applied to any depression natural or manmade resulting from the high velocity impact of a projectile with larger body Far Side of the Moon, in original French, La face cachée de la lune, is a 2003 film by Robert Lepage. It lies to the west of the Lacus Solitudinis, a small lunar mare. Lacus Solitudinus ( Latin for "Lake of Solitude" is a small Lunar mare on the far side of the Moon. The lunar maria (singular mare, two syllables are large dark Basaltic plains on Earth 's Moon, formed by ancient Volcanic eruptions Less than a crater diameter to the north east is the Bowditch crater, and further to the southwest is Donner crater. Bowditch is a lunar crater that lies on the far side of the Moon, just beyond the eastern limb Donner is a lunar crater on the far side of the Moon. It is located just to the northeast of the Mare Australe, behind the southeastern
The rim of this crater has been nearly ruined by subsequent impacts, leaving only the northern and northeast parts relatively intact. There is a breech in the rim to the south, with the southeast overlaid by 'Titius J' and the southwest by 'Titius N' and 'Titius Q', leaving only a short length of shallow, surviving rim to the south-southwest. The western rim is disrupted by three other small craters. The interior floor has some irregularities, but is relatively featureless and level to the northeast.
Satellite craters
By convention these features are identified on lunar maps by placing the letter on the side of the crater mid-point that is closest to Titius crater.
