The Von Bondies are a rock band from a Detroit, Michigan suburb. Early days

Around the turn of the century Jason Stollsteimer attended a concert by Japanese rock & roll giants Guitar Wolf. Jason Stollsteimer (born Jason Elliott Stollsteimer on April 22, 1978 in Southfield) Michigan is the Vocalist and Guitar Wolf is a three-piece Garage punk band founded in Japan in 1987 At the time, Stollsteimer was working a job as a bowling alley bartender. The performance spurred him to create his own band, the Baby Killers. After recruiting Lauren Wilcox on bass, Marcie Bolen on rhythm guitar and Don Blum on drums the band changed their name to the Von Bondies. Marcie Bolen (born October 28, 1977) is an American Guitarist from Detroit, Michigan.

While playing a handful of shows in the Detroit area, the quartet recorded singles It Came From Japan, an ode to Guitar Wolf, and Nite Train. Jack White of The White Stripes along with the The Dirtbombs' Jim Diamond later produced the Von Bondies' debut album, Lack of Communication, in late 2001. The Dirtbombs are a Garage rock band based in metro Detroit, Michigan, notable for blending diverse influences such as Punk rock and Jim Diamond is a veteran Music producer, Studio engineer, and Bass guitar player based in Detroit Michigan. Lack of Communication is the first Album by Garage rock revival band The Von Bondies, released in 2001 by Sympathy for the Record Industry It was recorded in only three days.

The Von Bondies have done 4 headlining tours of the UK, 2 of Australia, and 7 of the US. They also have appeared on Late Show with David Letterman, Last Call with Carson Daly and CD:UK. The Von Bondies released Raw and Rare, a live record, through Dimmak Records in 2003. The Von Bondies released Pawn Shoppe Heart through Sire Records (known for signing such artists as Madonna, The Smiths, and The Ramones) in February of 2004 to positive reviews. Around the time of the record's release, Stollsteimer got into a fight with Jack White during the record release party for Detroit band Blanche. White was required to attend anger management classes, and pay a fine[1].

A shortened version of their single "C'mon, C'mon" is the theme song to the TV series Rescue Me and is performed live by the band in Michael Winterbottom's film 9 Songs. Rescue Me is an American Television drama series created by Denis Leary and Peter Tolan. Michael Winterbottom (b March 29 1961 in Blackburn, Lancashire) is a prolific British Filmmaker who has directed fifteen 9 Songs is a 2004 British Film, directed by Michael Winterbottom.

Present

The Von Bondies have finished recording their new album. It will be called 'Love, Hate and Then There's You' [2]and will be released late 2008. They are currently touring in anticipation of their album, and in the meantime, have also released a four-track EP called "We Are Kamikazes [3]"
