The Gem (1907 – 1939) was a story paper published in Great Britain in the early 20th century, featuring the activities of boys at the fictional school "St. This article is about British Story papers For the US version see Dime novel. Eric Arthur Blair (25 June 1903 – 21 January 1950 who used the Pseudonym George Orwell, was an English writer 1,711 weekly issues of The Gem were published over its lifetime.
