Thamsanqa Dube is, as of 2006, the heavyweight boxing champion of Zimbabwe. See also Great Zimbabwe National Monument. For information about the March and June 2008 presidential elections see Zimbabwean presidential election In November 2003 in Bulawayo, Dube beat Arigoma Chiponda with a technical knockout taking the heavyweight national championship belt. Bulawayo is the second largest city in Zimbabwe, after the capital Harare, with a population of 676000 (UN Humanitarian Co-ordinator Zimbabwe 2005 now estimated [1] Dube beat Chiponda three more times in the next year. [2] Dube has only lost once in his professional career, and that was by decision in his first match against Chiponda on the day he turned professional. [3]

On New Year's Day 2006, Dube knocked out a Zambian heavyweight, Joseph "Ramos" Phiri, in a 12-round contest at the Bulawayo Polytechnic College. Bulawayo Polytechnic College is an academic institution in Zimbabwe. [4]
