The Tetrablemmidae are a spider family with 126 described species in 29 genera that occur throughout the world tropics. Arthropods are Animals belonging to the Phylum Arthropoda (from Greek ἄρθρον arthron, " Joint " Arachnids are a class ( Arachnida) of joint-legged Invertebrate Animals in the subphylum Chelicerata. Spiders are Predatory Invertebrate Animals that have two body segments, eight legs no chewing mouth parts and no wings The Araneomorphae are a Suborder of Spiders They are distinguished by having Chelicerae (fangs that point diagonally forward and cross in a pinching action The Caponioidea are a Superfamily of araneomorph spiders They contain two families of six-eyed spiders Caponiidae The Reverend Octavius Pickard-Cambridge FRS ( November 3, 1828 - March 9, 1917) was an English Clergyman and Zoologist Year 1873 ( MDCCCLXXIII) was a Common year starting on Wednesday (link will display the full calendar of the Gregorian calendar (or a Common This page lists all described species of the spider family Tetrablemmidae as of May 9 2008 They are sometimes called armored spiders.

The family Pacullidae, with the only genus Paculla, has been incorporated into this family in 1981.

Most tetrablemmids have been collected from litter and soil, including soil in epiphytes; some live in caves. An epiphyte is an organism that grows upon or attaches to a living plant Some cave species, but also some soil inhabitants, show typical adaptations of cave spiders, such as loss of eyes and weak sclerotization [1].

Spiders in the genus Paculla are four to five times larger than other tetrablemmids. The genus Tetrablemma features only four eyes, a trait only shared with most species of the not closely related Caponiidae. Spiders of the Ecribellate Haplogyne family Caponiidae are unusual in that most species have only two eyes which is unheard of in other spiders

Tetrablemmids do not seem to build webs.
