Uplink

An uplink (UL or U/L) is the portion of a communications link used for the transmission of signals from an Earth terminal to a satellite or to an airborne platform. In Telecommunications, information transfer is the process of moving messages containing User information from a source to a sink In Telecommunication a data link is the means of connecting one location to another for the purpose of transmitting and receiving digital information In Telecommunications transmission is the process of sending propagating and receiving an analogue or digital information signal over a physical point-to-point or An Earth terminal, in a Satellite link, is one of the non-orbiting communications stations that receives processes and transmits signals between itself and a Satellite This article is about artificial satellites For natural satellites also known as moons see Natural satellite. An uplink is the inverse of a downlink. An uplink or downlink is distinguished from reverse link or forward link (see below).

Downlink

A downlink (DL) is the link from a satellite to a ground station. A communications satellite (sometimes abbreviated to comsat) is an artificial Satellite stationed in space for the purposes of Telecommunications.

Forward link

A forward link is the link from a fixed location (e. g. , a base station) to a mobile user. The term base station can be used in the context of Land surveying, Wireless computer networking, and Wireless communications. If the link includes a communications relay satellite, the forward link will consist of both an uplink (base station to satellite) and a downlink (satellite to mobile user). A communications satellite (sometimes abbreviated to comsat) is an artificial Satellite stationed in space for the purposes of Telecommunications. Uplink An uplink (UL or U/L is the portion of a communications link used for the transmission of signals from an Earth terminal

Reverse link

The reverse link (sometimes called a return link) is the link from a mobile user to a fixed base station.

If the link includes a communications relay satellite, the reverse link will consist of both an uplink (mobile station to satellite) and a downlink (satellite to base station) which together constitute a half hop. A communications satellite (sometimes abbreviated to comsat) is an artificial Satellite stationed in space for the purposes of Telecommunications. Uplink An uplink (UL or U/L is the portion of a communications link used for the transmission of signals from an Earth terminal Uplink An uplink (UL or U/L is the portion of a communications link used for the transmission of signals from an Earth terminal In Telecommunication, the term hop has the following meanings The excursion of a Radio wave from the Earth to the Ionosphere

In a hierarchical telecommunication network the backhaul portion of the network comprises the intermediate links between the core or backbone of the network and the small subnetworks In Communications systems that use star topologies, the return channel (also reverse channel, back channel or return link) is
