Kilmurrary was often used on the half forward flanks but also played as a key position forward and ruck-rover. He used the now outlawed flick pass and won East Perth's Best and Fairest in 1958, breaking teammate Graham Farmer's sequence of four in a row. The FD Book Medal is awarded to East Perth Football Club 's Fairest and best at the end of each season Graham "Polly" Farmer (born 10 March 1935 Farmer said " If it had not been for Sister Kate I would have had an ice block's hope in hell of ever leading a normal life That year he also won a Sandover Medal for his performance in the Grand Final. The Sandover Medal is an Australian rules football award given annually since 1921 to the Fairest and best player in the West Australian Football League He was a three time premiership player with East Perth and represented Western Australia at interstate football on four occasions.
