Along with their traditional rivals, the Orlando Predators, they share the Arena record for the longest tenure by a franchise in a single market area. The Storm compete in the Southern Division of the National Conference. They are coached by Tim Marcum, who is widely regarded as the greatest coach in Arena Football history. Tim Marcum is considered to be the most successful coach in the history of Arena Football.
The Storm have a heated rivalry with the Orlando Predators known as the War On I-4. The Storm ended the 2006 season with a 7-9 record (4th in their Division), ending a 19-year streak of playoff appearances, dating back to their days as the Pittsburgh Gladiators and the start of the Arena Football League.
So far, in the 2007 season, the Storm are 9-7, however, after they started 0-5, they won 9 of 11 and finished second in the southern division and clinched the #3 seed in the National Conference playoffs as a result. The 2007 Tampa Bay Storm season was the 21st season for the team in the Arena Football League and 17th in Tampa On June 30, 2007 they lost the wildcard round to the Columbus Destroyers by a score of 56-55. The difference was a missed extra point and missed field goal that decided the outcome of this game.
The team's current mascot is a dog named Storm Dawg.
