Taihu County (Chinese: 太湖县; Pinyin: Tàihú Xiàn) is a county in Anhui under the jurisdiction of Anqing City. Taihu is famous for its lake named "Huating Lake" with mountains and scenery waters. The lake was originally built for flood control and power generation with a dam constructed in the 1960s. Though in the earlier days it had been blamed for destroying lots of farm land, it is now widely advocated as a traveling place.
It also has a long history in the Chinese Zen, which is an important tributary of the Chinese Buddhism. Zen is a school of Mahāyāna Buddhism, referred to in Chinese as Chan.
