Systematic Chaos was written and recorded from September 2006 to January 2007 at Avatar Studios in New York City, co-produced by drummer Mike Portnoy and guitarist John Petrucci and engineered by Paul Northfield. The song "Constant Motion" is the first single off the album, released on April 27, and its corresponding video was released on July 13th. A. shut down for the first time in Dream Theater history near the end of the set and the show abruptly ended. The rest of the Australian tour had no such difficulties.
