Previously a shopping centre called "The Sands", Sunshine Plaza started as a redevelopment of this centre and began trading in 1994. It now has 62,000 m² of net lettable area with major tenants including Myer, Target, Kmart and Birch Carroll & Coyle. [2]. A recent expansion included the addition of a Woolworths supermarket, a new leisure and restaurant precinct, and the expansion of the Birch Carroll & Coyle cinema complex was completed in 2002. [3]
In early 2005 it was announced that Westfield will take a 25 percent stake in Sunshine Plaza[2] with clearance from the ACCC[4].
