The first Stockholm Open was held in 1969 and it has been played each year ever since. Year 1969 ( MCMLXIX) was a Common year starting on Wednesday (link will display full calendar of the Gregorian calendar. The tournament is played on hard court and features both men's singles and doubles tournament. A tournament (IPA) is a Competition involving a relatively large number of competitors all participating in a Sport or Game. History

Swedish Open was first held in 1969 in Kungliga tennishallen in Stockholm and has been held there ever since except for the years 1989 to 1994 when it was held in the Stockholm Globe Arena. The Stockholm Globe Arena or in Swedish, Globen ("The Globe" is the national indoor arena in Stockholm Globe City, Sweden.

Since 1995 the tournament was downgraded from Super 9 status offering 1. 72 M$ in prize money to International Series level tournament with $825,000 prize money.
