Wonder has seven children from various relationships and has been married twice: in 1970, to Motown singer Syreeta Wright (the marriage ended in divorce in 1972) and, since 2001, to fashion designer Kai Milla Morris. His daughter, Aisha Morris, was the inspiration for his hit single "Isn't She Lovely. Wonder is interested in politics. He is an activist for civil rights and has endorsed 2008 United States Democratic Party presidential candidate Barack Obama. The Democratic Party is one of two major Political parties in the United States, the other being the Republican Party.
In 2006, his mother died in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 76.
