The England national rugby league team represent England in international Rugby league football tournaments Bannister is a second-rower forward who has been compared to Great Britain international Lee Gilmour, with forceful running lines and a keen eye for a gap in the defensive line. Great Britain was traditionally one of the major national teams playing Rugby league. Lee Gilmour is a Rugby league footballer who plays for St Helens.
In November 2006, Steve Bannister was promoted to train with the St Helens first team squad. He made his first grade debut on August 19, 2006 against the Catalans Dragons.
