The Steppe Polecat (Mustela eversmanii) is a small carnivore and is one of several species of weasel that belong to the genus Mustela. René Primevère Lesson (March 20 1794 - April 28 1849 was a French surgeon and naturalist. A carnivore (ˈkɑrnɪvɔər meaning 'meat eater' ( Latin carne meaning 'flesh' and vorare meaning 'to devour' is any animal with a diet consisting Weasels are Mammals in the genus Mustela of the Mustelidae family. Weasels are Mammals in the genus Mustela of the Mustelidae family. It can also be referred to as the Siberian polecat. The Siberian Weasel (Mustela sibirica) is also occasionally referred to as Siberian polecat, which can be confusing. The Siberian Mountain Weasel, also known as the Siberian Weasel, Kolinsky or Himalayan Weasel, is a rust coloured member of the Weasel family

The Steppe Polecat is found in the steppes and sub-deserts of Eastern Europe and republics of the former USSR. In physical Geography, a steppe ( German, from степь - "a flat and arid land" степ - /stɛp/ тал - tal дала - /dɑlɑ/ pronounced A desert is a Landscape or region that receives very little precipitation. The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR was a constitutionally Socialist state that existed in Eurasia from 1922 to 1991 It is also found in Mongolia and West, Central and North East China. Mongolia (mɒŋˈɡoʊliə, literally Mongol country/nation,) is a Landlocked Country in East China ( Wade-Giles ( Mandarin) Chung¹kuo² is a cultural region, an ancient Civilization, and depending on perspective a National [2]

The Steppe Polecat breeds during March to April. Gestation ranges from 39 to 43 days. Gestation is the carrying of an Embryo or Fetus inside a Female Viviparous Animal. Birth has been observed around mid-May and average litter size is 6. 8 young.  [3]

Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis identified 9 sulfur containing volatile compounds in the anal gland secretion of the Steppe Polecat:

Relative abundance of the compounds varied with sex and age. Gas-liquid chromatography (GLC, or simply gas chromatography (GC, is a type of Chromatography in which the mobile phase is a carrier gas usually an Inert Mass spectrometry is an analytical technique that identifies the chemical composition of a compound or sample based on the Mass-to-charge ratio of charged particles Sulfur or sulphur (ˈsʌlfɚ see spelling below) is the Chemical element that has the Atomic number 16 A relative of the Steppe Polecat, the Siberian Weasel (Mustela sibirica) has the same volatile compounds in its anal gland secretions, but the predominant compound is 2,2-dimethylthietane. The Siberian Mountain Weasel, also known as the Siberian Weasel, Kolinsky or Himalayan Weasel, is a rust coloured member of the Weasel family It is suggested that the differences in compound abundance are a way for the Steppe Polecat and the Siberian Weasel to communicate species, sex and age. In Biology, a species is one of the basic units of Biological classification and a Taxonomic rank. [4][5]
