Stefan Merriman is a New Zealand born, Australian enduro rider who currently rides for the UFO Yamaha team in the World Enduro Championship. ( a Japanese motorized vehicle-producing company (whose HQ is at 2500 Shingai Iwata Shizuoka) is part of the Yamaha Corporation. The Maxxis FIM World Enduro Championship (WEC is the world championship series for Enduro, a popular form of Off-road Motorcycle sport. He won the championship in 2000 (250cc), 2001 (400cc), 2003 (250cc) and 2004 (Enduro 1). He is also the only rider who got close to beating Juha Salminen, who dominated the series from 2000 to 2004. Juha Salminen (born September 27, 1976 in Vantaa) is a Finnish Enduro rider Merriman finished second in the overall championship in 2003, only three points (266 vs. 269) behind Salminen. He lead the championship before the final heat where he finished second as Salminen took the win and the championship. In 2004, Merriman was third overall, behind Salminen and Samuli Aro and ahead of David Knight.
