Stainby is a small hamlet of around 30 houses located in south west Lincolnshire in the district of South Kesteven. Lincolnshire (abbreviated Lincs) is a county in the east of England. The hamlet is recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086-7 as Stigandebi. [1]
There are no shops or pubs - the nearest is Colsterworth. The church, on Main Road, is dedicated to St Peter.
Stainby is on the B676 road which runs between Melton Mowbray (Buckminster Road) and Colsterworth (Colsterworth Road). Melton Mowbray (known locally as Melton) is a town in the Melton borough of Leicestershire, England. Colsterworth is a village in the English county of Lincolnshire. The road is frequented by heavy goods vehicles from the nearby industrial estate at Sewstern and by vehicles heading from the Midlands towards East Anglia, although a quicker route is through Wymondham and South Witham.
