The first musical act to have been held at the newly built stadium was the Bee Gees consisting of Barry Robin & Maurice Gibb in March 1999. In October 2001, major reconfiguration work on the stadium was commenced to allow for sports that require an oval field, such as cricket and Australian rules football to be played at the ground.
