Staalplaat is an independent record label that is located in Amsterdam and recently opened up a separate store in Berlin. Staalplaat also presents as the Staalplaat Soundsystem installations and concerts throughout the world and has been performing at: club transmediale, Mutek, Garage, Ghent Vooruit Geluid Festival, SKIF, Sonar and more. The annual club transmediale festival is a music and visual arts event held in Berlin, Germany. In collaboration with VPRO radio, they release recorded sessions as part of the Mort Aux Vaches series. The VPRO (originally an acronym for Vrijzinnig Protestantse Radio Omroep, or "Liberal Protestant Radio Broadcasting Company" was established in the Netherlands Mort aux Vaches is the name of a series of albums released by the Staalplaat record label in collaboration with the Dutch radio station VPRO.
