Sparapet (Armenian: Սպարապետ) was a hereditary military rank used in ancient and medieval Armenia. After his assassination, Armenian Prime Minister Vazgen Sargsyan was called the Sparapet in some popular songs in reference to his military leadership in Karapakh.
