South Caicos is the seventh largest island in the Turks and Caicos islands archipelago, with a land area of 21. The Turks and Caicos Islands ( TCI) (ˈtɜːks ænd ˈkeɪkəs are a British Overseas Territory consisting of two groups of tropical islands in the West Indies 2 km². The population was estimated at 1579 in 2006. Together with uninhabited East Caicos and a number of smaller islands, it forms the South Caicos and East Caicos District, with a total area of 136. East Caicos is the fourth largest island in the Turks and Caicos Islands. 8 km². All islands in the east and south of Caicos Bank belong to this district, except French Cay, which belongs to Providenciales and West Caicos. The larger ones of these islands are McCartney Cay (11. 4 km²), Little Ambergris Cay (6. 6 km²), Big Ambergris Cay (4. 3 km²), and Long Cay (1. 0 km²).

There are four villages:

South Caicos is known for the excellent fishing, both deep sea and bone fishing, and scuba diving. Scuba diving is swimming underwater, or taking part in another activity while using a Scuba set. For most people, the highlight of the year is the Annual South Caicos Regatta, where there are island-wide parties, boat races, and other games.
