Socotra or Soqotra ( Arabic سقطرى; Suquṭra) is a small Archipelago of four islands and islets in the Indian Ocean The East China Sea is a Marginal sea east of China. It is a part of the Pacific Ocean and covers an area of 1249000 km² From an official Chinese text.

Socotra Rock ( 32°07′22.63″N, 125°10′56.81″E) is a submerged rock 4. In nautical terminology a reef is a rock, sandbar, or other feature lying beneath the surface of the water (six fathoms or less at low water 6 meters (15 ft) below sea level (at low tide) located in the East China Sea. The East China Sea is a Marginal sea east of China. It is a part of the Pacific Ocean and covers an area of 1249000 km² The rock is the subject of a territorial dispute between South Korea, which considers it to lie within its exclusive economic zone, referring to it as Ieodo (이어도/離於島) or Parangdo (파랑도/波浪島)[2], and China, which considers it to lie within its exclusive economic zone and refers to it as Suyan Rock (苏岩礁). The rock is located 149 km (240 miles) southwest of Marado, Korea and 245 km (394 miles) northeast of Haijiao Island, China. Mara-do is a tiny treeless island 11 km off the south coast of Jeju, in southernmost South Korea, having an area of 0 Haijiao (海礁 also known as Tong Island (童岛 Taibujiao (泰簿礁 or Taijiao (泰礁 is located at 30°44'6"N 123°9'24"E in the northeast corner of Zhoushanqundao [3] It is approximately 275 kilometers (about 440 miles) from the nearest Japanese island, Torishima (鳥島, Torishima?). History
A possible reference to the rock exists in the the ancient Chinese book Shan Hai Jing, which mentions a "Su Rock" in the East China Sea. Both "Parangdo" and "Ieodo" are names for the mythical island residents of Jeju island believed to house the spirits of fishermen who perished at sea. According to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, a submerged reef can not be claimed as territory by any country. If the rock lies within the Chinese EEZ, then South Korea's construction activities there would have been in breach of Article 60 of the Convention on the Law of the Sea. In September 2006, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang told reporters that China objects to South Korea's "unilateral" activities in the region, referring to Korean government-built observation facilities on this reef island, which the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman has claimed to be "illegal". It was reported in Korea that "Spokesman Qin Gang mentioned that the two countries never had a territorial dispute over the island. " [3] On the other hand, Chinese reports notes tha Qin Gang said the two countries never had a "territorial dispute," not mentioning any islands. [9]
Some point out that Marado is the southernmost island of Korea, since there is a stele carved "the southernmost of Korea". Mara-do is a tiny treeless island 11 km off the south coast of Jeju, in southernmost South Korea, having an area of 0 It is also a slogan for local travel attraction. Socotra Rock's location is further south (32°07′22. 63″N, 125°10′56. 81″E) than Marado.
