Snowman began playing regularly around Perth's local music scene in 2003 and have gained a solid live reputation in the following years.
Their sound has been described as post punk experimentalism with elements of rockabilly, surf rock and punk blues. At the 2007 WAMi Awards Snowman won three WAMingtons for 'Most Popular Album' (Snowman), 'Most Popular Music Video' ("You Are A Casino") and 'Best Rock Act'[6]. "You Are A Casino" was released as a limited 7" single in the UK on June 25, 2007 on the Passport Label, through Forte Distribution [7]
Since then, Snowman have furthered their local popularity, gaining a cult following in the south west area of Western Australia, which can be attributed to their highly energetic live sets, and the sense of atmosphere created at live snowman gigs.
In January 2008, Snowman announced that they were recording their second album with David Parkin. [8]
On May 1st, 2008, Dot Dash released a news article about the new Snowman album, releasing it's album cover, tracklisting, and release date[9]. The Horse, The Rat and The Swan will be released on May 24th, and the first single is "We Are The Plague" which can be heard on their MySpace page. The Horse The Rat and The Swan is the second album for Perth band Snowman.
