The group started out originally as a swing jazz trio when its members were in high school, though members Sloan Anderson and Chris Depew had been playing together since middle school. Swing music, also known as swing jazz, is a form of Jazz music that developed in the early 1930s and had solidified as a distinctive style by 1935 in the United [1] Their first EP, As You Were was self-released in 2003, followed by two further EPs, Heartbreak and Masturbation (2004) and My Best Defense (2005). [2] After that they promoted several national tours in 2005 and 2006, including touring with the Vans Warped Tour[3][4] as well as scoring regular airplay on Denver radio station KTCL with the song "Zombies Ate My Neighbors" (named after the video game), which became a local hit. The Warped Tour' is a touring music and Extreme sports festival KTCL is a commercial Radio station licensed to Wheat Ridge Colorado, broadcasting to the Denver Colorado area on 93 Zombies Ate My Neighbors is a 1993 Run and gun 'horror' Video game for the Sega Mega Drive/Sega Genesis and Super NES platforms [1] Single File were also named one of MySpace's Top 10 Unsigned Bands in 2006. In early 2006 Single File recorded their debut full-length, which was tentatively titled Benson Shady Grove, with producer Ed Rose (who has worked with such bands as Motion City Soundtrack, The Get Up Kids, Senses Fail, Emery, Reggie and the Full Effect, The Spill Canvas, and The New Amsterdams). Ed Rose is an American Sound engineer and Record producer. He has worked extensively with groups in the modern Emo and Pop punk scenes Motion City Soundtrack is a rock band based in America. The band formed in Minneapolis Minnesota, in 1997 with only two of the founding members still The Get Up Kids were an American indie rock band Forming in Kansas City Missouri in 1995 the band opened for bands such as Green Day and Weezer Senses Fail is an American band based in Ridgewood New Jersey, formed in 2002. Reggie and the Full Effect is a Kansas City -based American music project featuring James Dewees who was the former drummer for Coalesce, keyboardist for The Spill Canvas is an alternative rock band from Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The New Amsterdams is a Lawrence Kansas -based American band featuring Matthew Pryor, formerly of The Get Up Kids. However, instead of releasing the full-length, the band put the project on hiatus and continued touring. The Fray is a Grammy Award -nominated four-piece Piano rock American band from Denver Colorado. [6][7] Following this, the group opened for Saves the Day on their US tour. Saves the Day are a rock band that was formed in 1997 in Princeton New Jersey. [8]
Their debut full-length has been retitled Common Struggles (former titles include Young Goodman Brown: A Book of Short Stories and Benson Shady Grove),[1] is to be produced by Howard Benson,[8] and is slated for release on Reprise in 2008. Howard Benson (born in Havertown, Pennsylvania) is a Grammy nominated Music producer and Aerospace engineer. [1]
