She-Ra is introduced in an episode of the first He-Man and the Masters of the Universe series as Adora, an agent of the evil Horde that ruled the planet Etheria. Adora is a Fictional character in the Masters of the Universe franchise However she then discovers that she's the long-lost twin sister of Prince Adam of Eternia, having been stolen by the Horde's leader, Hordak, as a baby. Eternia is the name of the fictional planet that serves as a setting for the Masters of the Universe toy collection and animated series Hordak is a Fictional character in the Masters of the Universe franchise In the same story, she is granted the Sword of Protection, which parallels He-Man's own sword, and gained the power to transform into She-Ra. As Adora, she then joined with the rebellion that sought to free Etheria from the Horde, though only a few other characters knew her secret identity as She-Ra. She then starred in her own series, and teamed-up with He-Man (they know each other's secret) at least twice.
It was rumored that She-Ra was supposed to be reintroduced in the third season of the 2002 He-Man and the Masters of the Universe series; however, the series was cancelled after the second season, and thus She-Ra never came to be in the latest incarnation. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is a modern Remake of the 1980s series of the same name, animated by Mike Young Productions, produced She did, however, receive an updated action figure to fit in with the new 2002 Masters of the Universe toyline.
