The artwork for this release was originally to be used on the unreleased Butthole Surfers album After the Astronaut. Butthole Surfers (also referred to as simply "the Buttholes" is an American Alternative rock band formed by Gibby Haynes and Paul Leary Because of complications, the album was not released, and Marcy Playground found the artwork (by Mark Ryden) and used it for Shapeshifter. Mark Ryden (b January 20, 1963 in Medford Oregon) is an American impressionist painter.
