Selenipedium is a genus of the Orchid family (Orchidaceae) (Subfamily Cypripedioideae). A genus (plural genera from Γένος Latin genus "descent family type gender" is a low-level Taxonomic Lady Slippers (aka Lady's Slipper, Lady's-slipper, Ladyslipper) is a term used to describe the orchids in the subfamily Cypripedioidea The genus has been given its own tribe, Selenipedieae, and subtribe, Selenipediinae.
