The Duchy of Saxe-Meiningen was one of the Saxon Duchies held by the Ernestine line of the Wettin Dynasty. The Ernestine duchies, also called the Saxon duchies (although also the Albertine Appanage duchies of Weissenfels, Merseburg and Zeitz Established in the 17th century, the Saxe-Meiningen line lasted, without much distinction, until the end of the monarchies in 1918.
