Sandyford (Irish: Áth an Ghainimh) is a suburb of Dublin, located in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County, Ireland. Irish (ga ''Gaeilge'' is a Goidelic language of the Indo-European language family originating in Ireland and historically spoken by the Irish. The County of Dun Laoghaire&ndashRathdown (Contae Dhún Laoghaire&ndashRáth an Dúin is a county in Ireland formed from part of the old county of Dublin Ireland ( Irish: Éire, ˈeːrʲə is a country in north-western Europe. A major part of Sandyford today is comprised of the Sandyford Industrial Estate and related developments.

Sandyford village itself lies just south of the M50 motorway, accessed from junction 13. The M50 motorway is a Motorway and National Primary Route ( N50) in Ireland running in a C-shaped ring around the north-eastern northern Motorway is a term for both a type of Road and a classification or designation At the heart of the old village is a traditional square, including a monument to the working men of the village, Pater and Ned. [1] The industrial estate is just north of the motorway. The depot for the Luas Green Line is located on the eastern edge of Sandyford Industrial Estate, as are two stops, Stillorgan and the terminus Sandyford. Sandyford Industrial Estate, lying north of the M50 and accessible from junctions 13 and 14, is one of the biggest centres in Ireland for light industry, warehousing and offices. It is home to over 200 major national and multinational companies. Recent developments in and around the estate include the construction of hotels, apartment blocks, shops and a private hospital. The area is fast becoming a hub for the insurance industry with many brokers and financial services businesses in the area.
Sandyford is part of the South Dublin Dáil constituency.
Sandyford is home to the Meteors Ladies' Basketball Club. The club was founded in 1965, and celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2006. [2]
Naomh Olaf Gaelic Athletic Association Club is located in the SIE. Naomh Ólaf is a Gaelic Athletic Association club which was founded in 1981 to provide facilities for encouraging the sporting abilities of the people of The Gaelic Athletic Association ( GAA) ( Irish: Cumann Lúthchleas Gael /'kʊmˠən̪ˠ 'l̪ˠuh It was founded in 1981. The club has teams from under eight up to senior level, and also operate an academy for boys and girls from four through seven years of age. [3]
Sandyford is also well known for its cricket team. [4]
Famous residents of Sandyford include radio personality Ray D'Arcy, singer/songwriter Paul Brady, and retired comedian Hal Roach, while David Kennedy, the former Formula 1 driver and RTÉ and Setanta Sports commentator lived for many years on Sandyford Road. Frank Aiken (died 1983), a founder member of Fianna Fáil lived in Sandyford and a local housing development called Aiken's Village is built on what was his land.
