In recent years, businesses have shifted their operations away from the town centre to the suburbs due to the presence of illegal immigrants in the town centre. The electrical power often fails whenever there is a thunderstorm or heavy rain. However, since mid-2007, the power failure has become much less common following the completion of the West-East Electricity Grid.
