Samborondón is one of the cantons of Guayas province in Ecuador. Its proximity to the country's largest city, Guayaquil, means that many of its residents live and work in that city. Guayaquil (waʝaˈkil officially Santiago de Guayaquil, is the largest and the most populous City in Ecuador, as well as that nation's main port The name Samborondón in general usage, often refers to the downtown area of the canton. Entreríos is a peninsula between the rivers Babahoyo and Daule (At the Guayas River formation). The area is known as one of the most exclusive residential and entertainment districts in the Guayaquil area, boasting many gated neighbourhoods (urbanizaciones) and several retail developments. Samborondon is known as the home of many of the rich and powerful of Guayaquil, including banana magnate and 4-times failed presidential candidate Álvaro Noboa, reputedly Ecuador's richest man.

Places to visit

Entreríos is composed of one central strip, known as Via a Samborondón, with smaller roads, mostly leading to residential urbanizaciones. Of note in Entreríos is the Guayaquil Historic Park, boasting an array of attractions, including a very small zoo, a promenade through a mangrove swamp, samples of traditional Creole farmhouses, restaurants serving local dishes and demonstrations of farming processes and intensive agriculture of the region.

Other attractions are largely consumer spending entertainment, including restaurants, the city's largest nightclubs, bars and a number of bazaar shops. The Río-Centro shopping centre has, a food court, cinema and a range of fashion shops reflecting European and South American trends.

Accommodations

Samborondón does not have any hotels. Though its close proximity to Guayaquil (5 minutes by car, pedestrian access prohibited on the bridge) makes this unproblematic for the visitor, except on peak hours (4 - 7 p. m. )
