Salmaan Taseer is the son of the great poet Mohammadin Din Taseer and writer Christabel (Bilqees) Taseer. He did his Chartered Accountancy from England and Wales.
Business career
Salmaan Taseer began his business career by successfully setting up two chartered accountancy and management consultancy firms KPMG, United Arab Emirates and Taseer Hadi Khalid and Co, Pakistan. KPMG is one of the largest Professional services firms in the world
In 1994, he established First Capital Securities Corporation Limited (FCSC), a full service brokerage house, with equity participation by Smith Barney, part of Travelers group and HG Asia based in Hong Kong. Smith Barney is a division of Citigroup Global Capital Markets Inc The Travelers Companies ( is the second largest writer of commercial property casualty and personal Insurance in the United States. Taseer also owns the Daily Times newspaper, Business Plus TV channel, Pace shopping malls and Hyatt hotel range in Pakistan. The Daily Times is an English language Pakistani Newspaper.
